Glow in the Dark Plastisol Ink
Total Ink Solutions® Glow in the Dark Plastisol Ink is a transparent/translucent specialty ink designed to be printed over an underbase. It charges when exposed to light and produces a luminous glow in the dark for up to 4 hours.
Available in Green Glow and Aqua Glow.
Because this is a transparent glow ink, the garment and underbase will influence its appearance in normal lighting. For the brightest and strongest glow effect, print over a white plastisol underbase. A heavier deposit of glow ink will increase the amount of phosphorescent material on the garment and improve the glow intensity and duration.
Available in pint, quart, gallon and 5-gallon containers. Heat cure. Made in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA.
Also available in larger quantities — 30-gallon and 55-gallon drums. Call 877-937-6400 for volume and discount pricing.
Features & Benefits
Up to 4-Hour Glow — Charges under natural or artificial light and releases the stored energy as a visible glow in darkness.
Transparent/Translucent Ink — This is not an opaque plastisol ink. It is specifically designed to be printed over an underbase.
White Underbase Recommended — For maximum brightness and glow intensity, print over a solid white plastisol underbase.
Two Glow Colors — Available in Green Glow and Aqua Glow.
Deposit Matters — A heavier ink deposit places more glow pigment on the garment and generally produces a stronger glow.
CPSIA-Compliant & Phthalate-Free — Made in the USA.
Always Run a Test Print First
Before any production run, print and fully cure a test on the exact garment being used. Check the glow intensity, ink deposit, hand, cure and wash-fastness.
Glow performance can vary depending on the underbase, mesh count, ink-film thickness, garment color and amount of light used to charge the print.
If you’re unsure about your settings, call us at 877-937-6400 before running production.
What It Prints On
100% Cotton — Print over a white underbase for the strongest glow.
Cotton-Rich Blends — Suitable for many blended garments. Always test for dye migration when printing on polyester-containing fabrics.
Dark Garments — A white underbase should be used. The glow ink is transparent and should not be relied upon to provide opacity by itself.
Light Garments — The ink may be printed on light-colored garments, but a white underbase is still recommended when maximum glow intensity is desired.
Printing & Curing
Underbase: White plastisol recommended for maximum glow intensity.
Mesh: 60–110 mesh recommended. Lower mesh counts allow a heavier ink deposit and can produce a stronger glow.
Squeegee: 65, 75 or 80 durometer, or 70/90/70 triple durometer.
Ink Deposit: Lay down a generous, even deposit of glow ink. The amount of phosphorescent pigment deposited directly affects the finished glow effect.
Flash: Flash only as necessary to gel the underbase before printing the glow layer. Avoid excessive flashing or overheating.
Cure: Curing is a time-and-temperature process. Bring the entire glow ink film to the recommended cure temperature of 330–350°F (166–177°C). Verify the actual ink-film temperature rather than relying solely on the dryer’s temperature setting.
For production, always confirm cure and wash-fastness with a test print before running the full job.
Recommended Companion Products
White Plastisol Underbase — Recommended beneath Glow in the Dark Ink for maximum brightness and glow performance.
Nylon Bond 289 Additive — For applications requiring improved adhesion to nylon and certain slick synthetic materials. Adding a catalyst creates a limited pot life; always test before production.
Quick Flash Reducer — Can be used when viscosity adjustment is required for easier printing. Use sparingly because excessive reduction can affect ink deposit and performance.
Soft Hand Base — Can modify hand feel, but dilution may reduce glow strength. Test before production.
Cleanup: OPTI Wash 125 and OPTI Spot 303.
Safety, PPE & Storage
Wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses and avoid prolonged skin contact with uncured ink.
Use with adequate ventilation and properly vent curing equipment.
Always stir thoroughly before use to evenly distribute the glow pigment.
Storage & Shelf Life: Keep the container tightly sealed and away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Typical shelf life is 1–2 years when properly stored. Containers exposed to high temperatures may expand; open carefully. Do not freeze.
Refer to the product Safety Data Sheet before use.
Compliance
CPSIA compliant and phthalate-free.
